The team

Shantanu is a climate-tech entrepreneur with more than 20 years of energy industry experience. He has successfully founded number of companies in the past including Susteon, Sustaera in climate-tech domain. He has also consulted with McKinsey & Co and worked with Schlumberger and EV Private Equity in the past. Shantanu has an MBA from Harvard Business School and B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT, Roorkee.

Rwitwika leads Mati’s government liasoning, policy and climate justice efforts. Rwitwika Bhattacharya is the CEO of Swaniti Initiative, a social enterprise that delivers development solutions by strengthening levers of public service delivery in South Asia. She has a master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Wake Forest University.

Dr. Neumann leads the hydro-biogeochemistry research group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. The group investigates transport and reaction of chemicals in the environment, tackling societally relevant topics, such as food and water quality, CDR, global climate change, and environmental protection. Dr. Neumann was the 2018 recipient of the American Geophysical Union’s Charles S. Falkenberg Award, which recognizes a “scientist who has contributed to the quality of life, economic opportunities and stewardship of the planet through the use of Earth science information.

Dr. Beerling is the Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Climate change mitigation and Sorby Professor of Natural Sciences in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at the University of Sheffield, UK.
