Dr. Jake Jordan

Dr. Jake Jordan

Chief Science Officer

Dr. Jake Jordan has completed his A.B. in Geophysics at the University of Chicago and a Ph.D in Geology from University of Texas at Austin. He leads Mati’s Science team with a focus on building robust MRV processes and researching the durability of ERW as a carbon dioxide removal strategy. Dr. Jordan is among the recipients of the Google Carbon Removal Research Awards in 2023.

Advisors

Dr. Rebecca B. Neumann

Dr. Rebecca B. Neumann

Scientific Advisor

Dr. Neumann leads the hydro-biogeochemistry research group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. The group investigates transport and reaction of chemicals in the environment, tackling societally relevant topics, such as food and water quality, CDR, global climate change, and environmental protection. Dr. Neumann was the 2018 recipient of the American Geophysical Union’s Charles S. Falkenberg Award, which recognizes a “scientist who has contributed to the quality of life, economic opportunities and stewardship of the planet through the use of Earth science information.

Dr. David Beerling

Dr. David Beerling

Scientific Advisor

Dr. Beerling is the Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Climate change mitigation and Sorby Professor of Natural Sciences in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at the University of Sheffield, UK.

Dr. Noah Planavsky

Dr. Noah Planavsky

Scientific Advisor

Dr. Planavksy is an isotope geochemist that works on environmental change in Earth’s past, present, and future. His work combines field studies, analytical chemistry, novel isotope systems, and geochemical modelling. He has worked extensively on atmospheric evolution – particularly on changes in oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations. Noah co-invented our isotope dilution technology to enable cost-effective verification of carbon removal in soil.
